Default Glass Bead Blue Finish ?

I have a M19-5, 2 1/2" that was shipped to the U.S. Government, State Department. I somehow ended up with two letters dated about 3 weeks apart. The two were pretty much identical EXCEPT one states matte blue finish and the other letter states "glass bead blue finish". I will chalk up the two letter thing to admin error, but the question of the different terms is a little puzzling. Are the terms inter-changeable as S&W is concerned or is there a difference?
Thanks.

Matte is the same thing as glass bead. It's also known as a satin finish. It is a uniform, non polished, even finish.

The other non polished finish is brushed, which has very fine parallel lines going lengthwise.

Interchangeable, although a matte finish may be obtained by methods other than glass bead blasting.

Thanks. Here is the revolver with the finish mentioned above. It is a 1987 piece, probably on the cusp of the government switching to pistols. Oddly enough. the letters don't mention the type of grips, just round butt grips.

Thank you Bill for that great information.

The letter states 615 in the order.
