thoughts and experience? I would probably not shoot it much, but do like the available bullet choices. Thanks.

If you want one, go for it. IMO, it's a more practical choice than the 500 S&W. I have owned both and reloaded for both. But as years have gone by, I have consolidated and simplified. 44 Magnums are my only revolvers anymore.

Lots of 460 posts in this forum

I do have fondness for the cartridge and available firearms.

I have owned one for about 10 years. I was intrigued with the 460 because it can shoot 3 different calibers out of the same gun. 460, 454 Casull and 45 Colt. I've shot Hornady factory loads and my own reloads.

I don't shoot it all that much, and I don't hunt. Really, if this pistol was made by another company, I probably wouldn't have bought it. It's fun to shoot and very accurate.

I picked up a 460XVR a couple of years ago and really liked it however found it too muzzle heavy. I traded it in on a 460V 5 inch model and found it balanced much better for me. I reload for it using Hornady 240 and 300 XTP Mag bullets - fun gun to shoot.

I enjoy shooting my 460V, but I probably wouldn't be able to afford to shoot it much if I didn't reload for it. I only shoot the 460S&W, not 454 or 45C.

Thank you everyone for the information. I'm taking it off of my "want" list.

You're missing out - it's a fun gun at the range when you want to clear your head!

I really like my X frames. I have a 460 in 8 3/8, and a 500 in 6.5. They are a hoot to shoot at the range, and the range usually gets quiet when those come out, as everyone comes to see whats making the blast.
I shoot reloads out of the 460, and I have to say that I am impressed with gun, so much that I am taking it Whitetail hunting this year.

There are a lot of good qualities to the 460 Revolvers, and really if one sits down to realize all of the potential, the sky is the limit. Then there is the last factor to weigh in.......deciding what barrel length to go with. Good luck.

Please, I don't need any encouragement.

I have a chance at a 500 8"+?, but based on the comments here, I'm going to pass and keep wishing.

Just for the heck of it I took the scope and bipod off my 14 inch 460. Talk about a handful, it was all I wanted to send five shots down range with all that weight out there, but it hit where I aimed at the 25 yd range. The scope and bipod are now back on it.

The 500 with the 8-3/8" barrel is a great shooter, WITH, the correct round!! And the Correct round naturally, is different for everybody!! For me it's the 350gr Hornady XTP, JHP loaded to about 1250fps.. 50 to 100 rounds plus is not a problem even one handed!

And I've got Rheumatoid Arthritis in my hands!!

Anyway, Think Twice before you say no to any X-Frame! You might just like that Hogleg!!!!

Agreed! My 460V is literally a tack driver and the round is FAST. Like 1,900 ft/sec fast. Heavy frame absorbs recoil and a hoot to shoot.

Shooting 45colt feels even less than 38spl. Not much fun stick with the 460S&W Mag

I can practically buy a glock for a 100 rounds of Hornady 500magnum. Yet I would rather just shoot the 100 rounds

Yep, X2, but.....
Reloading this BadBoy is really inexpensive, and
load tailoring is unbelievable with this caliber.

I just changed out my scope I could not get accuracy with .454 casuall, 45 long colt or Hornady 460 factory ammo. I put 4 scope rings on and a better scope back to the range. I love the looks you get when you crank a few rounds off
