Internal lock prevents police from being shot
The handgun’s internal lock was engaged, preventing the suspect from firing it at responding Reading, Pa., police officers.
It’s pretty far down in this story.
Actions of Reading Police Ruled 'Justified' by Berks District Attorney
“We only learned after the fact, that the gun was not able to be fired” Adams stated at the press conference. The firearm uses a key to turn on and off the safety. As this is an internal feature of the weapon, Adams said there was no way for the suspect, Police, or anyone to know it was not able to fire. “We are just blessed that the gun was unable to be fired Sunday morning.” said Adams.

All about intent. She intended to shoot at the officers and they responded appropriately.

We’ll see this incident flagged by folks that want manufacturers to install all sorts of devices on guns: everything from locks to electronic gizmos that read the fingerprint of the person holding the gun and match it to an authorized user for the gun to work.
We’re also likely to see this incident used in legislative attempts to require that guns be locked when not in use on the range.

Well that is the 1st time or 1st person I have found that even uses that lock. Although in this case it just happened to be very good thing as up to 3 people prior to the police arriving might be dead.
