I have a newly acquired three inch. It has the best factory trigger of any of my S&W revolvers. I think I'm up to ten 3" variants. I'm a big fan of the short barreled big bores.

I guess I've got a thing for short barreled revolvers. I just think they carry better, and I personally don't shoot them any worse than one with a longer barrel. Honestly, I might just shoot them a tad better. It all has to do with the balance and the natural point of aim of a particular firearm. I've shot both and I'd be hard pressed to say that one was better than another in any true function.

No regrets w/ 3"
After looking for a few years, I picked up a 3" 625-3 to go along with my 5" 625-2 and 4" 325 Thunder Ranch. It is not quite an apples to apples comparison because the 4" is a scadium frame. However, the 3" has the tightest lock up of any of my revolvers. B/c gap is 0.004" and it shoots as accurately as my longer barrels. I handload softer loads, so the recoil is very manageable. Weight feels like it is in the palm of your hand rather than barrel-heavy like the 5". I haven't every seen a negative comment about 625s and I think you will enjoy a 3". It's also a source of pride because you don't see many 3" 625s at the range.
