Default 649 Age?

I came across this and want to know the build year before I buy. I would appreciate some assistance with this request.

Update - I found a video where the SN is. This pistol has an Uncle Mike's grip. It covered the SN. Also, I just saw the reply to this post. I appreciate the help locating the SN.
The actual number is

That's not the serial number. It's a parts code or product code. Look on the base of the grip frame for the SN. Probably has 3 letters like BDB followed by 4 digits.

Welcome aboard from ol' Wyo.

Your J-framed Bodyguard is not a stainless steel Model 649. It's either a Model 38 (aluminum alloy Airweight) or Model 49 (carbon steel) with a nickel finish.

S&W likely shipped it in mid-1979.

Roll the cylinder out and you'll find the model number stamped on the frame in what's called the yoke cut. It will appear as "MOD. 49."

The two five-digit numbers you show in your photos 1 & 3 are assembly numbers, and they should match. It appears someone has changed the original yoke for the one in your photo 3.

Default Thanks to all!

1. Yes, it shows to be a Mod 49.
2. The matching number thing makes sense.

I really appreciate all of the responses! Not going to buy this one.
