Default 642-1

This 642-1 was my brother's BUG from 2008 until he retired in early 2014.
Later that year he gave it to me to replace my 640-1 as my EDC.

It has been my EDC in that OWB holster up until June of this year when
I purchased a new M&P 45 Shield M2.0 for my EDC.

I really like my new Shield.

This was the first time shooting it from 25 ft.

And it goes well with my M&P 45.

Well the day before yesterday due to where I was going I put my 642-1 on because its less conspicuous
just because its a little bit smaller.

This morning while putting my pants on I realized how much lighter it is than my new Shield.

Looks like I'm going back to my 642-1 for my EDC.

I carry the 640 Pro in .357 in an ankle holster and I love it.

I have a 642-1 in the carry rotation. It's carried IWB for comfort, and it's hardly noticeable...unlike pocket carry. The heavier 640 now sits in the safe.

I loaded my 640-1 with .38 Special +P rounds so I figured why not just carry an Airweight?

I asked my brother to keep his eye out for one for me and when he retired he bought a new one and gave me his old one.

Every now and then in cooler weather when I can wear a vest or a jacket I do carry my 640-1 in shoulder holster.

I normally carry a Beretta PX4 Compact IWB, but sometimes I use my 642-1 instead, and I can definitely tell the difference. Most of the time my 642-1 is carried as a BUG in an ankle holster, and it's quite comfortable there. I've even worn it while hiking.

I too have a 9mm Shield and love it for its accuracy and capacity - I shoot it in the IDPA matches I occasionally attend at my range, now that they have a class for these little guns.

But my Shield likes 147g bullets best, and if I load it up with 8+1 the weight of just the bullets is a noticeable increase over the five 158g 38 Specials I would have in my 442. The price you pay for the extra capacity, and the availability of a much more rapid reload if needed.

Maybe I missed this but what is the make and model of that holster. Looks fantastic for my 36.

The holster was part of a "package deal" I bought a couple of years ago when I bought this 60-14 Lady Smith.

This was the rest of the package.

Its a Galco holster. E179 WC - V118. I like the holster a lot.

Some of you guys have really nice/expensive grips on your EDC's. Food for thought. If you were to dump a bad actor, the gun and those purdy grips go bye-bye, probably for ever. Pachs or Uncle Mike's grips might be a better choice for EDC.

But then I'd have extra grips and no gun to put them on.

This Outlaw OWB holster works well with my 642 Airweight. My bias remains leather but tried kydex and like the comfort and limited imprint.

I always love a good reason to buy another gun. Not that we really need a good reason, right?

My most frequent carry is my 642-1 for the same reason you mentioned.
It is confortable. Maybe not quite as comforting as some of my others,
but I can take them along too if I think they might be needed. Here is my
Centennial along with a few of it's favorite holsters. Left to right:

642-1 with Hogue blue lava grips, and Piranha knife.

Chic Gaylord's little black speed scabbard on Uncle Mike "Mirage" belt.
The loop on the holster was very narrow back in those days, so I had
to use the old beat up Mirage. The hat is my "Silent Warrior".

Black Hills shark hide on a Crescent shark belt, Bianchi speed strip,
Piranha knife again, and Barsolino hat.

Safariland model 16 holster on a James belt, Piranha knife again and
my NSA hat.

Hunter 3001 holster on a Carson belt, Piranha knife, flashlight and
my private pilot hat.

Thanks. Mine is just a plain jane with a boring holster and no knife.

Last time I posted a picture of my hat I received my first infraction. LOL

I have a nice red hat with big white letters that I never do post
on here for fear of another infraction, that I don't need or want.
