Looks good from the pictures, finish looks very good if that is original and not messed with, target grip needs to be sourced someplace for ~$150. These later iterations with forged hammer/trigger and MIM release button (mid 1990s) are top of the quality in my book. In this climate this to me is a:
grab and run...gun!

Seems like a reasonable retail price for a uncommon gun in a very common configuration.
With any revolver, but especially magnums, you need to do all the standard checks for wear/hard use. I've seen more than a few prelock stainless N frames behind glass that looked great from 5 feet but upon closer inspection were worn out range or bowling pin guns.
Some flame cutting on the frame above the cylinder is acceptable on a used gun. As noted in a hundred other places on this site, the cutting only goes so deep and then stops.

This one is good, but I've never seen a seller who would let anyone do all of these checks: A Revolver-Buyer’s Checklist | The Sixgun Journal

Can't beat a nice 657 .. I'm thinking 700-750 range, but you are not too high at 800.00. Offer 750.00 .... Love shooting the 41 mag.
I'm sure you will be happy with it.

Question: My 657-3 has the older shape release button and black MIM hammer and trigger. Did they change during production or have parts on mine been swapped? (Serial # CAAxxx). My records say 1995 but I don't know where that came from.
Not that it really matters. I bought a case hardened hammer and trigger set I was going to swap too but the thing shoots so well I'm debating that. I'm from the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" school.
