Any K or L round butt should work fine. I went the other direction
and put the X frame padded Hogue grips on mine

I ordered wood bantam boot grips from Hogue for my 69 snubbie. They were advertised as being for an L frame so I figured they would fit. They were a poor fit and I sent them back. They sent more or altered those and resent. Still didn't fit. I ended up sending my frame in to them for a custom fit. It fits now.

What's the point. Well either the Hogue L frame grips I initially received and received the second time were poorly made or the 69, at least the snubbie, is not exactly a standard L frame. I'm leaning toward the second option.

I did try the hogue rubber grips first and they fit the gun OK but I figure that's just because the rubber bends.

I don't have any other wood L frame grips to try so I really don't know.

See a lot of comments on the Culinas, I am waiting on a call back. Any advice if I decide to order a pair?

This is a set of stained Maple Ahrends on my still-NIB 69. Bought it when they first began to produce. Never cared for the black accents so I thought the black maple might complement it.

Grips that won't work is a pretty open ended question.
I can tell you one that does work for me on L frame 44's.
While not a 69 I do have a few L frames in 44 special and have tried several grips on them.
By far my favorite is the Altamont Altai round-square conversion grip.
Smith & Wesson K/L Frame Round Butt Revolver Grips | Altamont Company
The shape resembles a Miculek and points instinctively for me.
Yeah it's plywood but function beats fashion in this case.
The ones without the emblem inserts are a little thinner at the top and easier to speedload.
If I was doing this again I'd get those instead.

That 69 snub is right at the top of my current wish list.

Here's the pic of mine from my older thread on the subject. Not a very good pic but I just got a new phone this week (moto g stylus) with what is supposed to be a much better camera so I'll have to try, but here's the older one if it posts:
