Picked up a19-3
Just picked up a 19-3 with long barrel, Has been fired very little, if at all.  Wondering when made and value, Thanks in advance!

Sorry, no history. Been unfired in a private collection for several years. Looks to have been carried a lot, but forcing cone shows no evidence of ever being fired. Pretty clean weapon.

Not the serial number.
Either stamped in the bottom of the grip frame or in the frame underneath the barrel.

If I'm reading the Standard Catalog of S&W 4th edition correctly, the 19-3 was made from 1967 to 1977. As Quikdraw67 noted, we need the serial number from the bottom of the grip to narrow down the date. You will need to remove the rubber grips to access the SN.
Even though it may not have been fired much, it shows a lot of wear and the does not have the original grips and apparently not the box or paperwork. I don't know how desirable the 6" barrel is or how that affects value. Just a ballpark estimate on my part, maybe $400-$450?

That looks too worn to never have been fired, and the forcing cone won't really tell you as much as a few other tell-tales. look at the front of the cylinder, there will be a faint burn ring around each chamber; not a carbon ring you can clean off, but a more permanent type, fairly thin, ring immediately next to the chamber opening. Look at the extractor star for wear; look at the recoil shield, or breech face, whatever it's called where the firing pin strikes the cartridge, you'll see a faint outline of a case head.
