Default Question about 629-5 V-COMP

I purchased a previously owned "pre-lock" 629-5 V-Comp with a 5" barrel (actual 4.75" excluding compensator) about 8 years ago. I read where the "-5" 629's incorporated MIM parts, but this gun does not have MIM hammer and trigger. Does anybody have more information regarding when MIM's were incorporated into PC 629's as well as how many/when 5" barrel models were available for this model?

I think you'll find the PC -5s, at least early runs, did not use MIM parts. I too have a -5 PC that doesn't have MIM parts but a regular production run 5" that does.

Thanks. That answers a question that I have been wondering about for a while.

If I remember right, the PC kept using forged hammers and triggers until they ran out of parts.

I just checked. Both my PC -5s have forged internals. My 3", 5", and 6.5" PP -5s have MIM.

Forgot about my 3" and 6.5" PP -5s.
