Default The 29-5 MagnaClassic .44 Magnum.

Here's something that we don't see every day. A 1990 29-5 MagnaClassic .44 Magnum. Acquired from a local private seller, unfired since factory test fire, in cherrywood case with cleaning tools, front sight inserts, key, and docs with test target. It's too nice to shoot, I'd kinda like to find a shooter grade example.
If you have a MagnaClassic, please share a photo here!

I found one of these locally new in shipping carton priced to move, which is the only reason I bought it. Like you, I found it too pretty to shoot and briefly looked for a used example. Well, good luck with that. It seems just about everyone found them too pretty for a turn line. I have seen a hand full of 29 Magna Classics on GB and all of them have appeared to be unfired, or such low round count it was basically new.

What's a 29-5 Magna Classic 7.5" worth? UPDATED w/ pics

I remember one of the early articles on that gun, a S&W rep told the author of the piece that it would be the most accurate revolver people would never shoot.

That's a great catch. I blew a chance to snag one a few years ago in the $900 neighborhood. Haven't seen one near that cheap since. Congrats.

Congratulations
That’s a great find
As bad as I hate to admit it, I passed on a 629 magna classic a few years back.... I’ll never forgive myself

Trolling GB today I noticed this recent auction. Six digits from mine, and a price more than double than what I paid a local seller less than a year ago. Wow.

1 of 3000 is not rare. l have a 657, less that 300 made. lt gets shot often.
Great Guns, Great Cars, Pretty Women are to be ENJOYED!

Wink Magna Classics

I bought a 629 Magna Classic for $832. NIB when they first came out and it has been shot a bit. It is definitely a beautifully polished gun and amazingly accurate. Over the years, I have acquired two blue Magna Classics which I haven't fired. Before the Gun Broker world took over the gun selling, Cabelas would get some of these Magna Classics in and sell them for reasonable prices. Back then each Cabelas store did their own acquisitions and pricing. It was not uncommon to find price differences for the same item at different Cabelas stores. I doubt that happens since the merger with Bass Pro.

Got mine new back in the day and have shot it quite a bit. Cylinder throats measure .427, so I size both jacketed and lead bullets down to match. Still shoots better than I can shoot even when I could shoot.
The long underlug barrel and round combat grip make it very muzzle heavy, but she sure is pretty.

I check Cabelas daily for new offerings...Their pricing for similar guns at different locations is wide and varied......Ben

I'm the same way. My guns get used and carried. That's what it was made for. I take good care of them and much pride, but i dont hide them in a dark safe. That's of no use to me at all.

Default S&W Model 29 from the 80's

I have a Model 29 that I purchased in the 80's and have lost the rear sight rail. I am looking for a Picatinny Rail to fit on to my gun. Any thoughts of how I can track down a seller to fit my model? Any help would be appreciated. TY.

I have a 29-5 that's not a "Magna Classic" but it's kinda classy. I know the box is way earlier but it's what I got. Joe
