Default 19-4, nickel, 2 1/2" bbl find

Was in one of my regular LGS yesterday and the owner was in the process of putting out a whole bunch of handguns he had just acquired. I immediately spotted a blue plastic S&W case. Turned out to be a 19-4, nickel, 2 1/2" barrel in a case that did not belong to the revolver.

Haven't had a chance to clean it up yet. No idea who made those grips, will probably replace them. Looks to be pretty well cared for, extremely faint turn line, forcing cone looks good as does the recoil shield. The trigger is .500 serrated and the hammer is .375. Good case colors on each one.

Roy says it left the factory in Sept of 1981. Couldn't turn it down for $495.00 OTD

You did well on that one. I've got one I bought back around 1971 for less than $120.00. I carried it on duty for years and most of the blue finish was worn off of it. It has the .500 hammer and trigger and a very nice action job. I sent it to S&W about 15 years ago and had the old very worn blue converted to nickel. It now wears some Grasshorn stags and a Tyler T grip extension. I never shot it again after I got it back from Smith as I have a 2 1/2" model 66 with a nice action job that I shoot instead. They don't make them like this anymore.

Very good deal. I paid more than that for this one a couple of years ago. A nickel Model 19 snub is the greatest looking gun ever made. Congratulations!

A s&w in that world famous nickel gets my juices flowing. Congrats on your find and not waiting to buy it. With the nickel finish not being offered by s&w and Colt I’m not sure where these values might go in the near future. At $495 your kidding us right? Lol

Blue is cool, stainless is better but that shiney nickel finish is freaking awesome. Even the Russian Zars son knew it when he purchased the nickel revolvers in 44 russian.

Love those guns. Have had them in blue, nickel, and SS. However the nicest one I almost had belonged to a detective from an out of state agency who rode with me during a week long case. When it was over, he went home and left it under the front seat of my U/C car. REALLY? After some soul searching, I had my dept send it to his dept. Would have liked to have heard his explanation when they gave it back to him.

Thats on my list. Great gun. You stole that!! I have the 66 no dash and 66-1 and 19-3 in the snub nose variety. If I should come across a nice nickel it will be coming home. In all honestly I have not seen very many snub nose nickel variations. I see quite a few in the 4" variety but not in the 2.5".

Ya' think?
That sounds like about half price in my area.
Nice score!

How right you are about these grips. I went to the Hogue web site and they still make these grips. Priced at $130.00. Guess
I'll have to hang on to these for awhile, although Grashorn's sure would look nice.

Thanks for the info on the grips.
