Default 629-1 Stocks

I’m new to revolvers, what I know I’ve learned mainly from this forum. I bought a 629-1 yesterday that’s absolutely beautiful, it hasn’t been shot much at all but one thing bothers me about it. The stocks don’t exactly match. One is the blonde color except around the edges of the stock and the other is that deep darker color. I was wondering if it shipped that way or if this was done by an individual. The darker stock has 1982 on it which coincides with the serial number. Thanks for any help.

My 66-2, bought in 1989, don't match either and most sets for sale on eBay are not perfect matches....

Can you show the bottoms ?
I'd say it came that way.
I think they call it slab cutting with that grain style and the reason I wanted to see the bottom

The grain looks different to me between the two, but like I said I’m new to them.

Thumbs up

Great job on the pictures.

Looks to me to be out of the, same piece of wood.
The sharp change to the light color is where the sap would starts. IIRC.

I don't know if I have a picture I can find but I like Rosewood when a bit of the sap word is included.

Very nice gun. I like the variation in the color in the grips. It could be from one piece of wood but who cares it looks cool.
