Default Info on older 442

Just picked up a Smith 442 no dash, no internal lock serial number BPR 3152. Would like to know approximate date of manufacture and any other interesting info about it. Didn't do any research just snapped it up. I paid $325, I think a little steep but older models in excellent shape are hard to find. Thanks

That’s going to be around 93-94 and you did well for $325. Note that it is a no dash and very susceptible to cracking with plus p ammo and high round counts. I have a BRU prefix I do not shoot often.

^^^what he said. I was originally intending to argue with this comment, but I keep forgetting that the initial offerings of these later 3-digit J-frames were on the older/shorter .38 frame. When the 442 on the J-Magnum frame hit the shelves, LEOs in the NYC area were falling over each other to buy them.

$325 is a good price.
