Default 629 collectors/ accumulators..Lets see them

I have been interested in the .44 magnum all my life. I grew up with Dirty Harry as an adolescent idol. The Model 29 came in a few variations

With the dawn of the 629, the variety of options to buy exploded. When you look at the SCSW it's mind boggling how many variations of this model were produced.

Lets see some of your 629s with their history if known. I only have 3 but hope to expand..

A 629-3 Classic DX 8 3/8" barrel Prod Code 103646, Jan 1992

A 629-4 3" Classic Carry; Prod Code 103658 Dec 1997 (Stocks are added

A 629-4 Mountain Gun. Product Code 104224. Feb 1995

Lets see what is out there.

Awe us with what you have!!

Who are you trying to kid! I am jealous! 629 collectors/ accumulators..Lets see them
If we are paying attention the combat sight revolvers are all the rage right now and command a better price than their adjustable sight counterparts. That’s a new trend for sure. But the special short run Camfours and Lew Hortons and others are especially nice.

Default Here's a couple....

Had these for a few years until I realized they were defective, they didn't have any rear sight assemblies.....

You'd think the Performance Center would know better....

Had to get rid of them, they also had the same s/n's, last four digits were 0013.

Interesting....

Here’s two 629-4s. One is transitional with flash chromed hammer and trigger. The other is a late round butt with the new thumb release.

This is my 629-3 five inch classic. I fit a different but correct cylinder to this gun due to timing issues

And here are my two 629-6s. A 3 inch and 8 3/8s classic

I only have two 629's - I'm more a carbon steel guy - but the two that I have are consecutively numbered 1988 Iditarod Commemoratives (I posted these in the "Pairs" thread too).

While the barrels & presentation cases say "1 of 1000" there were actually only 545 made. These were a premium for a bank promotion and the bank went under before the contract for the full 1000 was fulfilled.

I have the blue boxes plus docs and tools for these also - and yes, I even have an extra presentation case (long story).

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I just have one 629, a transitional with a non pinned barrel and a recessed cylinder. It remains unfired except for the factory

I don't have a couple dozen 629's.

In fact, I have only one.

But it's an unusual one.

I’ll add my 6” barreled edition from 1990 ... my “Oh ****!” sidearm that rides crossdraw on my hip while hunting.

Here is my little Lew Horton 629-5. I have the original aluminum case and all paperwork. It is called the "Light Hunter" on the little strip of paper that comes with it. I have several grips for it. I think it has the nicest action of any of the Smith revolvers I own.
