Question Interesting 6" 586-5, 148789

Recently came across a different 6" barrel 586-5 with s/n CDP89XX. It has what appears to be a higher polish blue and all of the markings are gold laser engraved. It has the MIM parts but no lock. I called S&W and they told it me it was manufactured in Sept, 1999, as product code 148789. I can't find a reference anywhere to this catalog number. Nothing in the Standard Catalog and nothing when I google it. Unfortunately, it didn't have its box so there is no info I can get from an end label...

Does anyone have any information that they could share on it? I know that there is one other post on here about that catalog number from 2016, and its serial number is within 20 digits of mine, but there wasn't a lot of info on that post either so I'm hoping more has been learned about this one since then?

Thanks in advance.

Is that laser engraving or just paint in the standard imprinted logo? I used white nail polish on my Shield 9. Paint over then wipe off the top. Looks alot like your pics. I like the look but I know many on this site do not.

I'm pretty sure it's laser engraved. Also, the caliber is marked on the same side of the barrel as S&W, which it is usually done on the opposite side of the barrel.
