617-1 with new grips
This 4" 617-1 was my first gun purchase of 2020 , was the most I paid for a Smith revolver but in the short time I have owned it have fired it more than most of my centerfire Smiths I have owned for many years.
A nice set of wood grips was soon on the to buy list until a few weeks ago. Fired two 25 yard targets with the new grips , this is the second. First was actually a little better. The grips are Hogue in Cocobolo.

Nice. My 617-1 says hello. I grabbed this one in August and haven't been able to shoot it yet. Your Hogues look good. I may have to get some of those, too.

617's forever!
357 Shooter - Congratulations on that nice Revolver and those
Hogue Grips.
Please tell more about the Red Dot and the Red Dot silver
mount. How is the quality of fit with all. How is the
operation (does the Red Dot over whelm the Target)?
Thank you for Sharing and the Picture.

Congrats on your 617-1 purchase. My 617-1 has a pair of Hogue grips just like yours in tulipwood. A 4 inch bbl 617 really does balance nicely!

The red dot is a Vortex Venom with a 3 MOA dot. The mount is by Raptor Engineering. Allchin also make a similar mount.
I am totally satisfied with the fit of the base to the revolver as well as the fit of the red dot to the base. I shot mostly at 25 and 50 yards and the 3 MOA allows a very precise aiming point.
