Default K-frame Weight Differences

Here's a strange one. I'm looking up specs on my revolvers and I'm seeing that my Model 18 weighs more than my 4" Model 13?

Model 18
Caliber: .22 LR
Weight: 37.6 oz
Length: 9.3″
Barrel Length: 4.0″
Capacity: 6

Model 13
Caliber: .357 Magnum
Weight: 35.2 oz. (4 inch barrel)
Length: 11.2 in (4 inch barrel)
Barrel length(s): 3 in, 4 in
Capacity: 6

How could a 4" K-frame chambered in .22 LR possibly weigh more than a heavy barrelled 4" Model 13-2 chambered for .357 Magnum?

These specs don't identify the variant number. Maybe that explains the difference?

I can feel the weight difference between my 38 and 22 combat masterpieces. The 22 feels much heavier, there’s a lot more steel in its cylinder than in the 38s

In the good old days Model 18s were cataloged at 36 ounces the same as 4" Model 19s. That extra 1.6 ounces could be Target Stocks or maybe the barrel thickness used in the modern Classic line?

Yep, lots more steel left in the cylinder and barrel when it is bored to a .22 caliber.

Back a few years, S&W machined the K-38, K-32, and K-22 Target Masterpieces to weigh the same. Could that be what you're thinking about when you're wondering why your guns have different weights?
