New Target Grips Installed
The Post Office finally got around to delivering both sets of Target grips I ordered in the November/December time frame. The S&W K-frame Targets I bought from forum member "Raystown" (great transaction by the way) were installed on the model 15-4. They have a beautiful grain and I like the way they feel much better than the original Magnas.
A set of new Altamont Coke Bottle Targets in walnut were installed on the 686-6+. I'm pleased but not thrilled with how they look. The fit and finish is excellent, and they feel great, but they just don't "pop". I liked the original "Deluxe" rosewood grips (especially the checkering), and they felt fine, but they were laminated. I like the look of solid wood better.
Here's a couple of pics.

It refers to one style of grips with a palm swell. The shape reminded some people of a bottle of Coca Cola.
Original factory Goncalo Alves target grips with a diamond center, for a square butt revolver, with a small extractor relief cut, made from 1955 to about 1968 (according to the SCSW book, pg 38). Also modern grips inspired by that shape. The original sets in decent shape are about as common as hen's teeth...
