Model 25-15 45 Colt
Just picked up a new Mod 25-15 in 45 Colt from a LGS. It came with the standard 6 1/2 Bbl, which I would like to have changed to a 4". S&W CS told me they did have the barrels on hand. My question is, what is the procedure for sending a revolver back to the mother ship? Thanks

They will send you prepaid FedEx label. You can ship without FFL

Fedex next day air.
You'll have to pay freight to S&W and back. You can get an air tag from most any pack and ship place. You might be able to order one up and print it out from Fedex, and just schedule a pick up. They will come right to your home and get the gun.
It will be extremely expensive though.
I've sent a couple back for warranty work and S&W paid the freight. I just filled out the air bills and had Fedex pick the guns up.

For warranty work they will pay freight. For other work, it's on the sender.

You asked them to change your factory 6.5 bbl to four inch, they said yes and didn’t explain the process to you? That’s a strange for sure.
Also, what four inch blued .45 barrels do they have in stock? Might have to call myself tomorrow.

To know it is to love it! I have a 25-15 and really like it. Would like to have a 4" also, but wouldn't alter it. Only my opinion, search for a 4", 45. I would like 1 also. My 25-15. Bob

Over a Barrel
What?
Maybe S&W is thinking finally going to offer the 25-15 in a 4"
barrel.

Agree. A 25-15 with either 4” tapered or bull barrel is interesting.

I did not ask which configuration the barrel was when I asked, either heavy bbl, or mountain gun. Really frosted my cookies when I asked if they could substitute a 4" for the 6 1/5" standard and just ship it to my dealer. They said no, even thou I was willing to prepay for everything. Don't understand. they have to send the pistol out, then have it shipped back, alter it, and then send it back. Oh well

I called yesterday and the person answering the phone had not clue what I was talking about when requesting 4” .45 Colt barrel availability. She had no clue what a model 25 was and could only look up parts by s/n. Furthermore, she told me they don’t sell parts. I know that’s not true bc ive bought them the factory direct before. My point is dont be too excited or disappointed because there is a good chance you were misinformed about the 4” barrel, not to mention most of what they told you it seems to make very little sense. I suspect they are receiving a record number of calls these days and have to employ people who are not necessarily experts on the S&W catalog to field the call volume.
