Default Picked up a New 649 to Go with My 638

I have been looking for a 649 for a while now and I finally found a Gunbroker listing that wasn’t too pandemic inflated and charged no credit card fees. That plus some cash burning a hole in my pocket made me jump at the opportunity. I received it late last week, and I broke her down over the weekend and did a thorough clean and lube, installed Altamont Bateleur grips and painted the front sight.

The fit and function appears to be excellent. Finish is okay at best but nothing to brag about...but I don’t mind too much because it’s going to get a lot of carry wear as a woods gun and some conceal carry time as well. Trigger pull was 12-13 lbs and a little rough out of the box but after the clean, lube and dry firing it is a smooth 10-10.5 lbs. now. Pretty doggone nice! It will be a fine companion to my 638 that gets carried more often than any firearm I own.

Barring bad weather the 649 will tag along with the 638 for its first range outing this weekend. Should be fun!

Some of my favorite "Js" exist (or existed) within the Bodyguard design - love 'em!

The 649 is my favorite j.-frame. Nice catch, OP!
