What does the "-8" designation mean on my Model 14, and when was it made? I see a serial number of "CPL 7905" (see photos) but don't see this serial number type referenced anywhere online.
The number is the “engineering change”, usually indicating a significant difference from a previous version in a production process or mechanical detail. In the case of the model 14-8 it indicates the tapered barrel and internal lock; the 14-7 had a full underlug barrel and no lock.
