Sure there's a cure, just start buying N-frames and you won't have any gelt left to squander on J-frames. See how easy that is.

While the J Frame S&W may just be the perfect carry weapon anything larger just doesn't carry as well..
Then you've got the Airweight & Airlites Too!!
I feel your pain..
If it makes you feel any better I just picked up another 940..

Looks like you need an M49, an M38, and a couple of M649s.

Nice J frames, I have the M36 and M60 in both 2 and 3 inch. I like the looks and feel of the smaller frame. Always looking for more. However I also like the K frames. There are enough variations to keep busy in collecting and shooting.

No . . . especially if you lurk around here regularly!

You still get a Cadillac of a gun . . . for less money than the bigger ones are going for these days.

You only have a little problem (J frame)
There are a lot of us that have much bigger problems (K L & N frames)

The cure for me will be when they take the lock out of the M&P 340 so I can buy one

I came down with the FEVER saturday morning, and unfortunatly, no one at the gun show could cure it. So I stopped at a gun store on my way out of town, and they had the cure. 36-1

The closest cure may be getting a 340pd a box of full load magnums and shooting them as fast as you can. The more I shoot mine the less I enjoy shooting it. Course carring is a different story!!!

NO, there isn't a cure. I got sick only 4 years ago and I already have 5 J frame revolvers. The sickness actually gets worse as time passes.

I think the Lord may go both ways, I heard the rumor about a 1911 addiction as well.
(I think he and J M Browning may have been close)

There's a cure! You first have to sell off all your J-frames real cheap, to us forum members (I'll take the little M60 with the Tgrip for $350.00/shipped) and then you'll begin to heal!!

Yeah, it's called K frameitis not to be confused with the dreaded N frame syndrome.

Pre-war malaria, followed closely by N frameitis overpower J frameitis for me. The last Js' remaining are a 35-1, 640 3" and the 317.

But boy howdy ,when I peruse the N frame collection I don't even miss the little fellers.

It's all a matter of TaSte,, Good luck ,,,Allen F.

I'm sorry you didn't like shooting them. I absolutely love it. My hands are way oversized for them, so working the trigger is different. Still I kind of like feeling like a bullet is being shot out of my fist.

There is no cure. Additional purchases will only soothe the symptoms, as I know from experience. There is always one more model or variation I don't have yet, and just feels so good or is better condition that the one I already have.

Because of their size, my the wife and kids shoot them. Reload for recoil sensitivity and youll have multiple enablers.

I found myself in the closet fondling a 5” 60 , and knew i needed help.
When I started mugging old ladies and selling my bunghole to finish off my humpback collection I went to J Anon.

I dub my problem OCD: Old Chiefs Disorder.

Then I became enamored with Centennials so the acronym still applies.

I'm not searching for a cure; I simply keep feeding the monkey on my back (and this zombie thread). Here are a few of my favorites.

Howdy,

I had J frame itis bad at one time when I started shooting. I have below average size hands and the little J frames seemed logical. I assumed the light weight and small size would equate to my getting good accuracy. What a mistake that was.

My cop friends pushed shooting double action (DA) as a way to develop skills. If you can shoot DA, you can shoot anything. DA shooting was a frustrating experience. Working that long, heavier trigger with a light gun was tough. I also discovered that tuning that J frame trigger was much more difficult than expected.

I must have had a dozen before I accidentally got my first N frame, the 28 Highway Patrolman. It felt huge. I then discovered for the first time what a nice DA trigger with some weight could do. It changed my shooting. What a giant mistake I had made assuming small grip size and weight equated with ease of shooting.

A mind is like a parachute, it works best when it's open. Once I had felt that nice DA squeeze with a little weight, I could get nice tight little groups. It was then easy to see why K and L frames had come along.

That J frame trigger, even after stoning and tuning, will never equal the larger frames DA trigger work.

With all that said, don't misunderstand me.
Every backcountry walk I take has my little 360PD along. It hits me harder than my 44 mag, but I forget it's there at 13 oz.
So NOOOOO , I haven't found the cure yet.

Over on the gun leather forum I put up photos of my 25 "dog ear"
holsters. My friend Red Nichols said I have a sickness. I agreed.

I've always been crazy (that's the sickness) but it's kept me from
going insane. (With thanks to Waylon Jennings)

With respect to the J Frames, I only have one, a 642-1. I carry it more
than my Ks or Ns or oddball brands (like my Colt 1911 Gold Cup) for
instance.

So, if you have more than a few J Frames, you probably have the same
kind of sickness I have, but a slightly different strain. Sorry, I don't
believe there is a cure.

If there’s a cure for this it has alluded me so my best guess is we’re all doomed!

I'm nuts about K-frames but J-frames are the choice for carry. The 7-shot 351c is ideal for my needs, but I don't love it. The J-frame I do love is the 3" 60-4 with full underlug. Why? Because it shoots like a K-frame!

Lobster, that's just it. You CAN routinely carry a J Frame. No, they don't carry a bucket of bullet but my M-649 is almost always available.

Plus a lot of them are pretty and elegant revolvers. This is especially true of the BodyGuard model! I have seven J Frames and need to make a family photo.

Buying one is all that I needed, but I understand that one is not enough for everybody. My revolver collection is based around 357 rather than frame size.

Default No, it's terminal......

Buy more guns more often and enjoy the time you have left. J frame Fever victims have been known to last to be over 100 years old, so pray that they don't find a cure.

Pernicious anemia of the bank balance helps a lot, if you can think of that as help.

No, and probably never will be. All that have it, want it.
