Cylinder release interfering with usage of Speedloader
PC 327 2” barrel Pugnose. I invested a good deal of money in Speed Beez 8 shot speedloaders, loader block, speedloader pouches and the speedloader is hanging up on the cylinder release when inserting. With practice, it’s gotten better, but it will never be “fast”. Anyone run into this and perhaps tried an extended cylinder release from Hogue or TKC? Only other thing I can think of doing is begin filing the stock cylinder release. Maybe there are lower profile speedloaders that wouldn’t hit against the cylinder release.

See if Safariland has something that would work.

Get a replacement release and file it. No big deal. Function over form.
I have needed to file down my grips to get speeloaders to work.

Is it possible that the grips are causing the speedloader to touch the release? Spegel N frame boot grips are scalloped to allow more room for the speedloader.

Speed Beez can be finicky, sometimes a ⅛ turn of the cylinder helps, Safariland does not I believe make an 8 shot loader, 5 star is pretty good, grips can be a problem. For range use the SpeedBeez work OK but for carry use it’s too easy to lose rounds or if dropped the whole thing can unload. HKS is also popular and may fit better.

Thank you all for the feedback!
If you make sure the Speed Beez is passing the cylinder release in between rounds (cutout area) then the spring rubs against the release. The cylinder just doesn’t swing away from the frame enough. I’m hoping thats just the case with the 327 Pugnose because I want to get a TRR8 as well and could use the Speed Beez with it. I am going to buy a replacement cylinder release and file it down on the Pugnose, it doesn’t need much extra clearance. I also think I’ll buy some TKC Moonclips and try those. Thanks for the responses!

Wouldn't the use of moonclips be more desirable than speedloaders?

Yes, it would, for getting a fast reload. If this is a carry gun, the moonclips could probably fit in the speedloader pouches.

Hougue sells an extended cylinder release.
S&W: Cylinder Release (Long) - Stainless Steel
The extension may allow enough clearance for the Speed Beez.
