Default S&W Model 629 Mountain Gun Grizzly

I was wanting to find more information about the "Grizzly" 629. Was it a special order?

Thanks,

I have one. Mine was a "stocking dealer" special during the Clinton years, and has a red insert front sight with a white outline rear. Love it and have bagged a few deer with it. I will see if I can find a photo.

Found a photo of mine described in the last post. These are definitely scarce and requests for information about them usually don't get much response. I bought mine just as President Clinton was about to impose some executive orders related to handgun sales and I feared my ability to purchase such a handgun might go away. At least that was the excuse I gave my wife. I guess related continued fears are still firing up gun sales today!

Mine came with factory paperwork explaining the significance of this Grizzly Bear stocking dealer edition. Unfortunately, I cannot find this paperwork at this date. I believe the only differences between this gun and 'normal' mountain guns are the bear etching and the sights.
