I have that grip and have used it on some of my round butt N frames. It is a conversion grip as far as I know and won't work on a square butt gun.
It's a bit larger than he regular Hogue grip and has a covered backstrap. It fits my hands better and does a good job on recoil.

So I conclude that grip will not fit on a standard 29 or 629. Right?

Not if your gun has a square butt.
I wish they would make one for the square butt guns, I'd could use one or two.

It fits current and recent 629's which do have round butts. The current Classic 29's I think have square butts.

I have one on my 629-6 and it is much better than the original grip for shooting magnums.

I have them on a 5" Model 629 Classic. They're big and sticky, so they don't conceal well, but they sure do absorb recoil.

My preference for my "N" frames is the Packmayr Decelerator grips. Here is a set on my 629 Light Hunter:



I find these EXTREMLY comfortable. I also have them on my 625's and my 6" 686.

I had an older 629 with no lock and the 500 grip fit, but had a gap. I now have a new 629 and the grip fits perfect. It is a large grip and does take up allot of recoil. SRM

Below is my current production 6" 629 (-6) sporting those .500 Magnum grips. It does add ~3/16" to the trigger reach - but, thank you, what a help with 'real' Magnum recoil!



And, ad absurdium, here they are on my 296... helps with recoil, but not so good for pocket carry!



Pretty universal grip - fantastic for recoil management. Of course, my 6" 629 is back to wood grips and iron sights - it's my fun-plinker with .44 Specials. The 296 is back to it's OEM boots, too. I have two sets of those .500 Magnum Hogues... in a drawer, as my 4" 629 sports wood, too - for it's 'normal' fare: .44 Russians, Specials, and wimpy-Magnums.

What are those grips Joni?

Those are Herrett's Jordan Tropper.
These are made to order and made to fit your hand. Great for recoil dispersion. I have them on most of the 44 mags that I shoot and a few others as well.
I even had one made for my 17-6 and a 22 Diamondback.
