Default 27-3 50th Anniversary Edition

I bought the commemorative, 50th Anniversary Model 27-3 back in December 2014 at a gun show near St. Louis. I probably over paid for it. I had just received my first Social Security monthly retirement payment and thought this gun was an excellent way to celebrate. It came in the presentation case with the faux Registration Certificate. As new, unfired.
My question is what is it likely worth now?

Still less than I paid for it. But I had money burning a hole in my pocket.

I think I just seen three on GI the prices seem to go higher everytime I browse GI. The 27-3 5” barrel 50th anniversary. There between $1,600 to $2,000.

It’s doom and gloom everytime I look. If we pay so much for these revolvers are you going to carry and shoot them?

An object is worth what someone is willing to pay for it! I guess to you it was worth what you paid, regardless of the going market price at the time. Since the buying process is long over and there is nothing you can do about it, forget about the price, shoot it and enjoy!

The one gun I did over pay for was a NIB 1974 production Colt Gold Cup NM. I purchased it because I wanted the specific features that were no longer available in the 1980's and I did over pay by about $150 bucks - and was fully aware of that at the time and willing to do it. I looked high and low for what I wanted and while I found a few examples, none were NIB /pristine. Since that is the way I like to but my guns, the $150 did not make it a deal breaker. I've owned the gun for about 40 years, have shot tens and tens of thousands of rounds through it, and it remains my all time favorite Competition, Target, Range pistol! No regrets .....

It's a little hard to place value on commemorative guns. They generally bring less than their standard model counter parts, and everyone prizes P&R guns over post P&R guns.

Nice standard -2s are going for 1200 or so currently, with some of them bringing more. Covid and panic buying has driven up prices across the board for most all guns.

You would have to find the buyer that doesn't mind a commemorative gun firstly. I see no reason why it wouldn't bring at least 1200 easy. Maybe closer to 1400 with all the accessories. I think the whole P&R vs non P&R as a value modifier went out the window with the addition of lock guns. Now it's just pre lock vs lock.

I own a 125th anniversary model 25 that I paid 1200 for last year with all the accessories including the shipping container. I priced out all the bits on gunbroker, and found that the grips were selling for at the time like 200 bucks, and the presentation case was another 200. It made me feel less bad about spending 1200 dollars on the gun, even though it was unfired in the box.
