Default Input Needed, possible purchase of Model 610

Found a relatively clean, not fired much, Model 610 today. Has a five inch barrel, mim parts, and it does have the lock. Asking price is $899 plus tax. What doth my esteemed fellow members think? Good price, excellent price, don't hesitate buy it now price, a little too high price... Trying to decide if I want to eat bologna and ramen for the next few weeks to add it to my stable.

That is a very good price to pay for a great N frame, In my area a decent price would be well north of a 1000.
If I had the chance I'd be making the purchase.

Are you sure it’s a 5”? I thought the 610-3 (lock/MIM) came in 4 and 6.5”. If it’s a 610-3 you can find em new for $849 to $899.

The only 5" barrel 610s that I am aware of were the original variation. They had forged, not MIM hammers and triggers. They are worth more than the newer common 4" and 3 7/8" variations. The newer variations with MIM hammers have a spring retracted firing pin mounted in the frame. Which is it? Did S&W recently make 5" 610s?

Default If you are OK with the lock.

Then I would say go for it. It sounds like a pretty good deal to me if the gun is clean. I like a five inch barrel also. Just sayin!

I'm going back to measure the barrel. It may very well have been a six inch, even though the tag said five.

If your eyes & perception are good,, wing it. If not, just pull out a dollar bill & lay it next to barrel. Measures 6 1/8". ALWAYS have a "ruler" in your wallet.
Want to let the LGS know you are serious,,, Use a BENJAMIN!

Don't ever trust a gunshop tag. I bought a sweet Rockola M1 Carbine they had mismarked in .30 Luger. Several passed on it. They figured it was altered so they sold it relatively cheap
