Default 686-6 SSR Pro 7 shot

New to the scene here with a 686-6 "SSR Pro", 7 round, with a 4" barrel. SKU is 178012A. Not found any matches since all SSR Pros I've found are 6 rounds.
Anyone else have/seen one?
Thanks, Clive

Welcome to the FORUM from Michigan! Close, but no cigar, I have a 686-6 Pro Series. It is 7 shot, and has 5" barrel. Really like this gun. Keep trying to find perfect stocks for it. Bob

SKU 178012 is, indeed, the SSR, which is a slab-sided barreled 6-shot 686.

SSR is an IDPA Division and stands for Stock Service Revolver. IDPA rules stipulate 6-round maximum, so it is unlikely that S&W would designate the revolver thusly and then offer it in a 7-shot variety. Although I've learned to never say "never" when it comes to S&W.

I believe that what you have is a 686 Pro Series - not an SSR. These guns were situated between the regular production guns and the Performance Center guns.

Doesn't matter what you call it, just enjoy it.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Curiously the box states "SSR Pro Series". Grip doesn't have "SSR", but has ".357" lettering. Def 7 rounds not 6!

those look like the grips that came on the 686+ talo edition (now called the 3-5-7 magnum series)

Does serial number on box match the serial number on the gun?

Yours looks like mine, but a 4" instead of 5". You should enjoy shooting it! Bob
