Model 65 3" going price?
Hello all,
Would you mind giving me a general idea of the going price for said revolver? This would be a purchase for me, not a sale if anyone is wondering.
Thank you!

A pinned/recessed 3" 65-2, probably $1300 +. 65-3s and 5s are routinely bringing $900-1100 these days.

A LGS has a 65-5 Ladysmith with a Crimson Trace grip for $999. (If its still there). That's a decent price, but I already have one.

In the last few months ..... anything approaching "nice" will be $1000 and up.
About 2 years ago a LGS had a nice 3" 65 for $600.
If you really want one and can find one for sale (locally) grab it..... if you'd still have money left to feed the kids.

Thank you everyone.
I forgot to ask what the ladysmith 65 would sell for as well, but you already answered!

I'd be hard pressed to let my 3" 65-5 LadySmith go for any price. If you can find one in good shape for anything resembling a fair amount, grab it.

You couldn't talk me out of my 3" 65-5 if you waived 10 Benjamins under my nose. Even though I paid less than half that for it just 3 or 4 years ago.

I paid $400 OTD for one marked BRPD (Baton Rouge) about five years ago. NFS. I did see a nice -3 go for $1100 at a show recently.

I paid $700 for my current 65-5 LS. I polished the bead blast finish and the Lady Smith off it. Came with a soft case.
Had a like new one I bought here for $1,000, it had the box and a killer set of Rosewood Combat Stocks. Traded it on here a little after that.
I bought my 65-3 on GB. I think with shipping and FFL fees, I have about $700 in it too.

Probably the most practical CC revolver ever made...
When my department was going from revolver (65s) to semis (5906/6906) we could buy the revolvers. The patrolman had 4" guns and the detectives 3". If anyone didn't want their guns, and most didn't, one could buy the extras...I think they were $150.00 at the time..about 1991.
I bought three of the 3" guns and the 4" that I carried. Sold off the 4", kept one 3" and my friends bought the other two. Eventually sold off the 3" and later bought another -3 from a local shop that didn't have as many miles on it...I still have it along with a matching 66-2.
Too bad they don't make them like that anymore...

This one, a 65-4, was $475 OTD from a local pawn shop about 3 years ago. Thought I was paying a bit too much then, but other members of this board disabused me of that concern. I've been tracking GB auctions for 3-inch 65s out of curiosity, and they are uniformly north of a grand if they are in decent shape.
Here it is wearing two different sets of stocks.

Every time I think about selling it (I don't carry it) it gets pulled out of the safe and I say, " Gee, it really is kind of nifty," and then goes back in the safe.

Agree, but the 3-inch 65 won't do anything my 3-inch 66 can't do just as well, and with sights I can see. I do carry the 66.

Murdock,
Did Smith make a pre-lock m.66 in the 3" configuration??
I cannot say that I have ever seen an old m.66 with that length barrel
