I've had the cylinder of my old Model 25 (no dash) .45 ACP apart for one reason or the other and know that the pushrod has standard (right-hand) thread. I also know that at one time or the other, S&W has utilized left-hand thread on the pushrod. I need to take apart my Model 625 of 1989 for cleaning and want to make sure I'm turning the correct direction. Thanks for any information.

Left hand thread went into effect in 1960, these were the scarce dash one (-1) variations that were quickly changed to the -2 when S&W dropping the fourth screw in 1961.

You can be sure the 625 has the newer, LH thread on the extractor and extractor rod.
