Anybody got thoughts on the value of a Midnight Black 686? 6" barrel. Excellent shape, but no box or papers. I haven't seen any sold in a long time. Thanks.

S&W247, gunbroker has one listed right now starting at $900 (maybe you already know). Awesome looking gun, but way too much hot sauce for me. Hope this helps.

No I didn't know and I have a GB search set up for those. Funny thing if I go to GB and manually run my search it finds it but I've gotten no emails. Makes me wonder what I've missed!
That is probably too high.

Historically they bring about the same as a regular 686 in similar condition. There has not been much collector interest in them in the past.....that could change....who knows??

I bought a 6" one last year for $400. Sold it a month later for $400. It was in pretty good condition, no box or papers. It was a case of I didn't know what I was buying and didn't know what I was selling. I would have kept it otherwise.
I saw one for $1300 here they called it black end...I thought it was midnight black...
one I owned about 90-95%

I worked for an authorized Smith dealer back then. I recall we may have received one, but it didn't last long. Maybe it was a special order for someone. I can't exactly remember, but I don't think it retailed for much more than the standard 686. If anybody else has one they would like to sell for $400, I would be interested. Seriously though, sometimes it's easy come, easy go.

$1300? Wow...now that definitely is out of line IMO. I was figuring $500 to $600 given someone actually looking for one, but that's just a guess. I was hoping others might know of prices actually realized. I guess not given lack of interest and low production numbers.

For future reference of anyone researching this, I got about $650 for mine in about 98% condition and what I considered extra nice grips, but no papers or box.
