Florescent Paint For Front Sight???
Hello friends! I'm think of putting some of this on the front sight of one of my revolvers.
So....what brand do you recommend?
What color is best for general use?
Thanks so much!

Testor's model paints work well. many colors to choose from and you don't have to buy a quart of it.

I use florescent green finger nail polish. It can be removed with fingernail polish remover. I use it only on stainless steel guns. I have never tried it on blued.

Can't count the number of old carry J frames and K snubs that had nail polish on em, worked fine and "retro correct". Just know that if you do it with your girlfriend's nail polish that you'll get to hear how much that nail polish actually costs.

My wife jokes that I have more nail polish colors than she does. My current favorite is bright orange.

I'm a fan of Glo-On for a number of reasons. It covers evenly and well, comes in a variety of colors (the brightest glow is from the original green), can be applied in multiple layers easily, and isn't prohibitively expensive. I've had good luck with it for years on a number of weapons. Its also available from Amazon if you want to go that route.

Another fan of nail polish. I use orange for the rear and luminescent green for the front topped with a clear coat.

Nail polish works well. Make sure you use a different color than your nails because if your grip is off a bit, you can mistake a fingernail for the front sight. That can be a problem!

If you've tried this and used it enough to truly see an advantage over a blued front sight blade, I'll not speak adversely of such a modification. I've found a plain blue (or stainless) front sight works very well as is.

Bic White-Out correction pen , shake and squeeze ,
flat white color . Cheap , can be bought anywhere , great as a base coat for Day-Glow Colors or just use the flat white .
The pen lets you apply precisely ...you can even make "dots" with the pen ... much better application than that stupid brush .
I keep one in my shooting box for a quick touch up ...try one !
My teenage grand daughter refuses to take me shopping for nail polish any more ...seems I embarressed her in front of her friends on the last trip ... I had to make sure the colors went with my new purse ...

Traffic Cone Orange nail polish from Wally World. Make sure to put a coat of white under it, especially with blued guns.

I have used the Brite-glo, and a white pen from Brownells, but only on guns where it is virtually impossible to replace the sight with something else, like X-s sights, or a fiber optic. And the answer for the guys who say,"Just go with a blued, or black sight," may you always have the eyesight for that!

Any color seems to work better with a coat of white applied first. Seems to brighten things up a bit.

Testor's Fluorescent Green (rear) and Fluorescent Orange (front) paint from Hobby Lobby. Both were applied over a coat of white fingernail polish then topped off with a clearcoat. Sorry for the photo quality - not easy to photograph the rear and front sights together.

Since you should be focusing on the front sight, I paint it bright (nail polish or Testors for me) and use a black Sharpie on the rear - filling in the area around the notch on the back of a J frame.

The bright White base is a requirement to get other colors to POP.
The Clear on top gives the top color a shine and protects it.
I like triple orange. I also like a white outline on the back sight.
This nail polish technique is particularly useful when you have a gun shooting high or low. You can decide what part of the front post to paint, the top half or the bottom half. When aiming, that will bring that nose either up or down.
I'm 72 and can't see black front sight on black back sight on a black target. They all just look like a black glob. That orange Nail polish has kept me shooting.
I could have spent thousands on new Bowen sights for lots of my toys, but I'm still on my first bottles of nail polish, $10.

I used Testor's Orange over a white base coat applied with a toothpick on my 617!

Sight Paint
I have a set of the Birchwood Casey pens, one white, one orange. They do a fabulous job. They are like a felt tip marker, but the tips are a little harder and beveled.
I just looked and saw that they are now sold in a 3 pc set, "Birchwood Casey Super Bright Touch-Up Sight Pens Neon Green and Red." They are in stock and the parts retailer whose biz is named after the famous WWII Naval Battle.
The color that they call red looks orange to me.

Testors works well, even though have used others. On the front sight put white on it first, color on it after, which makes it brighter looking. Have it on my 28 no dash that I bought in 2009. Never had to do it since! Bob
