Default No dash 686?

I've always wanted a 4" 686. Certainly not rare, but for whatever reason I never bought one.
Have a chance for a no dash now. Seems pretty tight. Only thing I see wrong is a set of Pachmayr grips. The guy has a set of target stocks not original to the gun I may be able to get thrown in but I'm not sure.
Anyway, the guy wants 800 bucks for it, which seems insane. Then again, insanity seems to be the norm lately. What do you guys think? Too steep?
Thank you all.

I just bought a new 3" 686+ for $800. If that one is in very good to excellent shape, I'd say it's a good price. Condition is king. Seems like lately the word magnum means $1000 to people. At least. So, if you feel good about it and you want/gottahave it, go ahead.

MSRP for a new one is $899.00. I paid around $1,000.00 for a new 4" 686+ a few years ago. Long story, not important. So I think $800 for a clean no dash is acceptable.

Has the IL, the modern rubber stocks, etc.

Thank you gentlemen. I'm going to give it some serious thought and give it another look. Things are nuts with the older Smiths, it's hard to know.

Yep, condition is everything.
Assuming excellent original condition, $800 is more than fair.
Those are excellent revolvers.

Pachs are ugly but good for shooting.
