That's a handfull of 9mm firepower. It beats my 637 9mm conversion.

Eeeexxcellent!!! (wringing hands together) My plot to convert revolver aficianodos to 9mm is working out marvelously!!
Very nice, great looking gun! Another nice job by Pinnacle. Can't wait to hear how it shoots. Sounds like you got a terrific deal on the spare cylinder, too.
safearm is right though, it definitely trumps our little 5 shooters!

Thanks for posting. I have been considering doing this to my 627PC. I am now convinced.

My understanding is that they can cut the 337 titanium cylinder for moonclips but cannot rechamber it, but you should check with Mark at Pinnacle High Performance to be sure.
Nice to see that you're learning to speak "Down East". If you're ever up this way I'll have to treat you to a lobster feed, one of our two pound crawdads should do you fine!

That's incredible! I live in Columbia Falls! Talk about a small world! That is crazy! Well, if you guys are ever up here visiting we'll definitely have to get together. I'll bet your wife knows my house, tell her it's the Vose's old house on Rt1, the white farm house with a big porch on the front, just a 1/4 mile from 187 (the road to Jonesport). We can go down in my back field and try out that fancy 8-shooter you've got!

I had my 637 cylinder (stainless steel) done by TK Custom. Turn-around time was great, 7 business days from the time I shipped it to its return. Tom's contact info is listed on his website, just google TK Custom, Rantoul, IL.

Revolver-King,
I have been considering the same conversion but have heard comments about poor accuracy and difficult extraction of fired rounds. Can you comment on the extraction and accuracy issues?

TSquared,
On other posts concerning the S&W 940, there was often discussion of stiff extraction. In fact, one member of the forum had purchased chamber hones and was passing them around to other 940 owners (sorry, I don't remember the name).
On my cylinder, the chambers are polished mirror smooth. I fired 100 rounds last weekend and did not have a single extraction problem.

No extraction problems with mine either, I've shot +P and +P+ ammo through it with zero issues. Mark at Pinnacle says that is why he rechambers them for 9x23, no extraction problems. Also, FWIW, my snubby is as accurate with 9mm as it was with .38spl, out to 15-20yds, anyway.

Very nice. You should be able to save some money shooting 9mm over 38 Special. These days, a typical box of factory 9mm is going for $10 and 38 Special for $15-17.

I'm thinking of having this done to a J-Frame.
Do you lose velocity? The space between the cylinder & barrel would allow gasses to escape I guess. So would this impact velocity?
My shooting buddy doesn't understand how it can remain accurate. Would the bit of difference in the size of the 9mm barrel & the .38 barrel effect accuracy? Is any work done on the barrel?
Thanks.

I have not had a chance to fire it yet, but when I do I will give a full report. To answer a couple of other questions.
1 It will shoot 9mm, 38 super & 9X23
2 As far as accuracy I only need it to be accurate out to 40 ft.
3 I did it for 2 reasons, first is the shorter cases in 9mm with moon clips are very fast to reload for competition purposes and 9 mm is a bit cheaper then 38 special.

That is a neat convcersion. I have a 627 and love the 8 shot capability. I usually load my moon clips with rem brass and what ever alternately so they don't wobble as much. Do the 9's fit the moon clips OK? Being shorter they should be easier to load in the gun. Definitely need a range report on your gun. Larry

Have you tried loading .356 or .357 bullets in the 9 cases? That should help out a lot with accuracy. I have a v-comp with a cyl chambered for 9 also. The accuracy of 9 mm factory ammo is about 4" at 12 yds but loading 357 bullets gets the holes back together.

I shot 100 rounds out of my 637 conversion last weekend. Distances were 7 and 15 yards. I didn't notice any difference in practical accuracy between the 9mm and the .38's I previously had fired from the gun. My best group was a 1 1/2" 3 shot cluster at 15 yards with Fed 115 grain Nyclad JHP. That's as good, maybe even slightly better, than I shot with .38's prior to the conversion.

I'm trying to understand why you would convert a 357 to a 9mm. Except for saving money on ammo . . . ?
