Craig Spegel Centennial Boot Grips

I just refinished my oldest set of Spegel boot grips with 8 coats of poly & hand buffed between each spraying with 0000 steel wool, the whole process took about two weeks, There the ones on the most right on the Airlite 342Ti.
I have a fetish with these Cocobolo Spegel Centennial Boot Grips, They realy work well for me & I've tried just about every type of grip out there except for Nills..
I recieved two other sets of Craigs grips recently that I put on my 642 & 2nd 940 as well.
If GOD made anything better he must have kept them for himself..

Nice! My one set Of Spegel Centennial style grips do feel good...nothing better on my 642-1.

To me out of the four sets the Checkered feel the best to my hands & are a bit smaller in girth than the other three..

What is the purpose for the extra length in the right side grip? I'm guessing it's for a better trigger control.

EVIL you'll notice that the wood come fully to the top on these "Centennial" grips on both sides & this realy helps you get a higher hold on the little revolvers & helps in the recoil department as well expecialy on Airweight & AirLite revolvers, These grips won't fit standard M36/M60 Chief Specials or Bodygaurds but Craig makes grip just for these too!!
Craig Spegal is Indead the Master of Wood..
S&W has been using copies of his grips on thier production revolvers for decades now under an agreement with Uncle Mikes of Oregon..

OK....I'm dragging out an old thread.

I just bought a 642-1 that I need wood grips for (long story). From what I'm seeing, it would appear that the Spegal grips are above all the best for this application. My question goes out to those that have used both the checkered and smooth style boot grips. Which do you prefer and why?

I'm leaning toward the checkered at this point, although I have no experience with either. Just thinking it might give a bit more purchase / control on this small of a revolver.

I don't think my comments are going to help you.

I like the checkering and have a checkered pair on a Model 36. However, I think if you called Craig and spoke to him, he would say that he prefers the smooth. I think you may find that due to the light weight of the Airweight revolvers, the checkered grips my be somewhat unpleasent to shoot.

But, as I said, I really like the looks of Craig's checkered grips.
