Custom Model 10's
Me and a buddy wanted to do everything possible to a set of Model 10's. Took a year, but got a teaser pic today! Should have guns in just a couple days. More pics to come everyone!
Mine is a CDC gun. Fun to resurrect an old officers gun!
Guns by Defensive Creations LLC, Dave Laubert
Grips by Grashorn Gunworks LLC, Elk with bark removed
Holster by Tactical Gun Leather, Suede Lined

First off- these look spectacular- congrats
Secondly, walk us through what you had them do, as I have a M10 I’ve toyed with the idea of customizing with a bull barrel, refined front sight, bobbed hammer, possibly hard satin chrome finish, etc.

Oh my, those are the best M10’s I can remember seeing.
The fire blued screws and cylinder release, the flats on the barrels, gold bead front sights, the grips. Wow!
I can’t wait for the rest of the story and a range report. 👍

That looks like Nitre Blue on the small parts. Yep, I'd say those are both 10s!

Nice custom guns! The cool thing is, when the guns get together, so do you and your friend. I like it!

Nice workmanship is evident. Not just the polishing and bluing but attention to detail. The smooth elk are a favorite of mine, have them on more than a few revolvers. Have you considered a grip adapter paired up with the elks? I prefer that combination to anything else.

BEAUTIFUL pair of Model 10s. Whenever I see examples of "customized" samples of the ubiquitous Model 10, I believe the forum could support a Smith and Wesson Revolver sub-topic devoted to just " Customized S&W Model 10 and M&P revolvers". Just a thought.

Very Nice............
Grasshorn makes great stag grips ; and grips are a very personal thing.
I've got more than a few sets of Grasshorn's work usually with BK grip adaptors....... but for carry guns I've got to recommend a set of Spegel checkered Boot Grips.
That said well done!!

Just superb! Great raw material, inspired design, high-level execution, brilliant details such as niter blue and choice of grips including gold medallions!
(Thinking your ‘Smith soon may need high capacity answering device!)
Thanks for sharing all this with us!

Strawhat, I like the grip adapters, but they take longer to get than customizing an entire gun! Never really tried them.
ChiefTJS, sent you a PM.
Re: niter blue, that was a treat from the gunsmith! It looks amazing and adds that extra touch!
Already dropped off my next years project. A "mini-me" 3" heavy barrel, round butt J-frame. Ordered the same grips for it just last night. Gunsmith has told me it will be a challenge to shorten the barrel back to the ejector rod due to the location of the front sight slot in the barrel. Can fill that slot and new gold bead sight will go over that area, but will show at the front of the barrel and might take the bluing differently if filled/welded...if that all makes sense. But I have faith in him!
Thanks for all the kind replies guys. I always enjoy them!

I'm not too worried about the balance of the gun. Small chop and they sell it in a snub obviously. Plus I want MY customized gun to be different than someone else .

The smaller frame should have a shorter barrel and be cut at the same location to match the M10....in my mind's eye.

Try BK grip adapters. A forum member and he ships promptly.
BK Grips | 2-Clip Grip Adapters for Revolvers
Or in the for sale area..
BK Grip Adapters for S&W J, K, L and N Frames

I've always wondered if someone, (Ken, Pat?) could try to make one in antler to go with their grips. Probably be $200 just for an adaptor, but it would be unique.
