I always thought my model 27, shown at left, looked pretty
snazzy in the Myres holster model 614 shown 2nd from left.
In a moment of temporary insanity I sold the model 27.

Very sadly. For me model 27 is a keeper. Mine is a 4" barrel. You had a very nice set.

Welcome to the S&W Forum, girmont0!
For anyone (not just OP) changing cylinders on a 27 or 627, don't change from an 8 shot to 6 shot or 6 shot to 8 shot. You can, but don't.
The reason is because the 8 shot cylinder and barrel is .030 higher than the 6 shot cylinder and barrel. A 6 shot cylinder on an 8 shot gun will be too low - the chamber won't line up with the barrel. Same with an 8 shot cylinder on a 6 shot frame, the chamber will be too high.
At the very least, every bullet will get .030 shaved off of one side, either the top or bottom. At worst, and most likely, the gun will blow up.

Hi, I was thinking to change the new cylinder model with the old recessed cylinder model, but it's a little more longer and I don't know if fits.

If the old cylinder is too long, the front could be faced off on a lathe to the right length. It is probably longer because of the recess part at the back. If you have the other cylinder, you could try it in the gun. If you would have to buy one, it may need to be fitted anyway. The only way to know is to trade parts and go from there.

When you look at a recessed magnum cylinder next to an un-recessed one of the same model, the extra length is at the rear and is the depth of the recess. The frame size doesn't change, and there is more open space at the rear of the cylinder, and you can see the cartridge rims plainly from the side, which you can't see on the recessed cylinders. The forward face of the cylinder is, of course, against the rear of the forcing cone, minus the normal gap of 0.004-0.006 inch.

So, this means, it will fit? In this case a old cylinder from model 27 or 28 fits? Don't need to replace the yoke.

Don't need to replace the yoke, but it may or may not be a drop in part. Sometimes they will fit just right, and sometimes they need hand fitting.

Nobody else has asked, so I will. Why would you upgrade a new model 27 at all, when you could buy a high condition older one? There are thousands of them around. You will never find a new one as well made or finished. Good luck.

I understand about the old ones, but the price are extreme high, so I decided to buy a new one and do some upgrades, but still no easy that make me thinking about next time I go to prefer get a Colt or Ruger.

Other thing that I not really understand is about the trigger. I like to replace the new trigger with the old solid model, but how I go to know about thickness of the trigger? Anybody knows the thickness of the trigger on new model 27-9?

I could be wrong but I don't think those triggers are interchangeable (the original color case hardened ones and the newer MIM ones). Neither are the hammers....
My model 27-8, although it was thoroughly worked over by the Performance Center, has the newer MIM parts. It has the best, smoothest actions of all my Smiths. All my other ones have the older color case hardened triggers and hammers.
In my opinion there isn't anything wrong with what you have. I would recommend buying a set of Culina grips for it, they would really make your model 27 look so much better. Just my 2 cents.
