Model 48-7 Classic Sight Adjustment
So I purchase a new Model 48-7 in 6". Take it to the range and it's consistently 4 to 5" right of center at 10 yards and 2 to 3" right of center at 5 yards. Had to take up all of the adjustment in the rear sight to get it right. Not happy. Called Smith and shipped it to them to repair.
Does anyone know what they're likely to do to correct the sight alignment? And has anyone experienced anything like this with a new revolver right out of the box?

The 2 possible gun related causes I can think of are - barrel turned on too far, making the front sight left of center, or the frame was threaded crooked and the barrel is at a slight angle to the frame. I have seen 4 guns with the latter problem over the years.

I will. They're saying 4 to 6 weeks which in this day and age seems perfectly acceptable.
