Default 586 RB 3"

Does anyone know if S&W produced the 586, in a 3", other than the current production L-Comps? I seem to recall seeing a 2.5" once... but only once.

Default Sure did

The M586 in 3" was made in very limited numbers.
Here's the one I have, wearing Spegel grips and a replacement front sight, it came with a ramped sight blade, now wearing a Patridge.

Enjoy...

That is some nice eye-candy.

I consider the “L” frame Smith THE platform for the .357 cartridge. I have both a 4” Model CS-1 and a 6” 686.

Flat out LOVE them.

Had one in the 90s..... looking back foolishly traded it away. But I got a anib Performance Center Shorty-9 for it.

Less than 4" I prefer a K-frame.... lucky to have some 3" 65s and 66s.

Very cool revolver. I really like the Patridge sight over the ramp. Snubbies aren't my thing, but that's a real beauty. Enjoy it.

Portion of letter about the 3" produced 586's. They are sweet and not often seen.
Good luck finding one!

Why will they not make revolvers JUST LIKE THAT any longer? Those are beautiful, just beautiful. Easily the nicest S&Ws I've seen today. Congrats to all who own them.

I wish Smith & Wesson had made the fixed sight 581 in a 2-1/2" or 3" barrel version with a round butt. I would have bought at least one of each! To me, that would have been the quintessential recoil-absorbing concealable .357 Magnum revolver.

As I recall, there was also a previous 3" L-Comp 586 version.

I had my gunsmith cut a 6" to 3" and install a Weigand ramp. Its probably my favorite revolver.
