629-2 classic hunter grip ???????
Just bought a new to me 629-2, that I believe is a classic hunter model from 1989 by the t/a serial number lookup. It has a 6" bbl, unfluted cylinder, with a black front ramp and a w/o rear sight. Gun came with G/A target stocks on it, instead of the Hogue grips that the "book" mentions it should have came with. My question is whether or not the Hogue grips from that period were "S&W" monogramed, or were just the regular stamped Hogue grips. TIA.

toad67 that is a later dash 3 at the end of the dash three they changed several things. the pictured dash 3 came with the exchangeable spring loaded front sight . {before the DX , they came with the metal medallion Hogue rubber grip and 3 sights}
The early dash 3 was offered with a 6 inch barrel ...the later ones were offered with 5 or 6 1/2. {besides some longer and shorter options}. {But the 6 inch was no longer an option} All dash 3's came with the endurance package. They also changed how the markings were made on the later dash 3's {lazer etched}The later dash 3's were the precursor to the DX line introduced with the dash 4's ...
The question was about the pictured 629 which does not come with the endurance package or the changeable spring loaded sights and would have shipped with the plain rubber Hogue grips with no medallion. {The earlier dash 3 was also a square butt where as the later is a round butt frame} For all the changes made during the dash 3, the later ones should be marked a dash 4.
BTW toad67 SWEET looker!
