3" 64-5 NY-1 range visit
Had a range day scheduled for today and wanted to shoot the 64 as it's been a bit. This revolver will outshoot me all day long. It's high on the giggle factor. Here's how it did for the first 12 rounds at 10 yards, Winchester 130gr fmj.
I enjoy it more every time I take it out. Hope you all had a great day especially if you got some range time.
18 rounds
Apologies for the shaky pic

Well done.
I've got similar grips on my 3" 65.

Nice 65! I have the original wood grips for the 64 but for shooting I prefer the old Pachs.

Nice! I miss my 64 NY1. I just bought a GPNY on gunbroker. Picked up a spurred hammer and they drop right into the GP guns. I’ll always keep the spurless hammer so I can switch it back to original but I do like having a SA option.

I love the 64 3” variety! Only thing I want for mine is a factory DAO hammer. I had a 4” setup that way that had the smoothest trigger pull. Regrettably sold that and have missed it since!

I have 64-5 three inch and have found it to be accurate. Mine is not a NY issue, rather civilian with the hammer spur. It is my EDC and am going to change the hammer to a bit wider hammer spur, a .375, or perhaps a target .5 inch.

64
I too have the 65 three inch that I sent to S&W for the “combat revolver package”. Well worth it. My 64 is a 4 inch.. My 65 4 inch was my duty gun. Both of the 4 inch guns were done up like the factory package by my gunsmith. I wouldn’t mind at all having a 64 three inch to round out the collection. Great guns. The Hogue Bantam grips on the three inch are awesome. I should have bought a set of round butt Ahrends when I could have but alas …

I've had my 3" 64-5 and 3" 65-5 for close to 10 years. The 64 started out as a RB 4". I bought a NOS barrel off Gunbroker and had that gunsmith over on Buckley Rd in Aurora CO put it together for me. They're both great shooters.

That would be TJ’s. They’ve worked on a couple Smiths I’ve owned, bought used, that needed some help to be made right. Good guys for sure.

Nice 3”. While I hate stainless, if I come across a 3”at a less than insane price ( not likely I know these days) I will pick it up as I have always wanted a 3” K, and 3” blued versions seem even scarcer than the stainless ones.
FYI I have never found those 130 FMJ loads to be very accurate. I suspect even better results with 158 grain lead or 148 grain wadcutters

That's the one! When I lived out there, I had some guns repaired by them as well as the barrel swap. I agree, good people.

.38 ammo is still pretty hard to locate locally outside of the fmj. I’m well stocked on my carry ammo, the very accurate Gold Dot 135gr +p, but can’t remember the last time even pre-crazy times I found 148 wads.

SWEET !!!
One of the nicest revolvers ever made , should carry well in a good holster .
My model 64 has a 4" barrel and is my most fired gun .
The 3" barrel is probably the best , short but not too short and long enough to carry easy .

That’s more shots than the previous 10 years.
