Default It sat for 2 weeks, luckily

I was in my LGS a couple of weeks ago and saw something as I was leaving. Used S&W revolver. Looked like a 681, but since I had just bought my second gun of the day, I didn't even look hard. Went back today and it was still there. It's not there anymore!
S&W 581 ND 4" barrel in nickel! Beat up box, docs, cleaning rod and original pc magnas that look to have been taken off and stored immediately for the Pachs that were on it. Finish is almost perfect. It's been shot, it's filthy, I'm sure it will clean up good. $700. Just thought I'd share!

It sat there for 2 weeks because it's not allowed to travel any further, like, to Vegas (just like its 681 brothers).

Some sort of model specific repulsor field around Nevada maybe? Something to do with Area 51?

Hey, you never know, could be right! Never thought of those things. Gotta be some explanation. Still looking for the reason why a machine NEVER again pays after I hit big on it.

That IS a lovely revolver. I used to see minty/LNIB guns like that when I arrived here 11 years ago. Now most of the used stock are 'cement-mixer specials.'

Very nice pick up! You don't see nice nickel 581's everyday! That is a great revolver and I am sure that it would be very happy at the range!

It's gonna get more beautiful. I talked to Curt Harlow and she'll have a new dress soon.

I also have one of his brothers. Find you a Tyler T, and put your magna's back on it. You will love it.

I never liked the factory stocks. I understand why they were what they were, but to me it seemed a waste of space. To not use that space to meld function and form while at the same time adding beauty always seemed wrong to me. Look at the Ropers. I get it. Production gun custom grips. But we are lucky to have exceptional grip makers on this site. Curt Harlow, 44magget, and Ken Driskill, bigmtnman, have both got my business for multiple pairs of grips. I now have many pretty guns and multiple pairs of magnas in the drawer. Several pairs are original to the guns I own. The stags have BK adaptors, another forum member we are lucky to have, and yes the grips are quite comfortable. But I also like a bigger grip occasionally and Curt's wooden masterpieces fill that role well. Not to mention, I can ask him to put the meat where I want it and take it away where I don't. Here's apair he made for my 629 out of bubinga wood. He's making me a similar set but in walnut and K frame square butt.

I'm not a fan of nickel plated guns. If I want shiny, I go with stainless. That being said, I would judge that you did pretty well for yourself on this gun, and since nickel ones are pretty rare compared to blue, maybe I would even upgrade it to "very well". The fact that it stayed there unsold for two weeks is just one of those things. Maybe you were just meant to have it. Enjoy!

Froggie
