The Mrs and the kids found the long barreled K22M difficult to hold steady and the Colt GM/45 just right.
The 6" Diamondback was a bit better for them.
Bought a 4" J frame 63-3 for the granddaughter's first birthday to share with her brother's 9422, which was for his first birthday as well.
An N in 357, long barreled, is on the list as our only 357 is the Ruger snub.

L-Frame for shooting .357s

"L" frame simply because the finest revolver I've ever owned is my 686-4. My others, however, are "K" frames.

I have a J frame and some K,L and N frames. I really like the L frames for all around use and I think the .357 magnum is about all most people can handle a steady diet of. But if I could only have one I might choose my model 27 shoots great, looks better

The J frame grips are Altmont faux ivory. I have a set for the Model 19 also.

The N frames are my sentimental favorite but I’d give a slight nod to the L frames for all around use for my purposes: plinking, self defense and general all around ranch use but I could absolutely make do with an N, L or K frame, I love them all!

I carry a 2 1/2" model 66.

They aint the prettiest but the J's have it for me - pure function. They live with belly button lint in their nose or crack sweat on their sights- all day. The others sit in the safe most of their lives.

I love N frames in calibers that start with “4”.
I love my K frame 38’s & 357’s
I love my model 63 but my 3” model 60 sees a lot of use as well.
Narrow it down to one and I would have to say K frame

Since the '60s, I've had multiple examples of the J,K,L and N frame guns. In revolvers chambered for .357, my favorite has become the L frame.

First choice in magnums is the N frames. Second it’s the k frames for 38 spec and 22 lr. Can you say combat masterpiece, has a nice ring to it.

Nothing like the N-Frame to house the larger bore cartridges that I like the best. .357 may be the choice of a lot of folks but the noise, flash and felt recoil make shooting the smaller frames more of a chore than a pleasure.

I love L frames for various reasons but carrying a snubbie K frame works much better! I have three 686+s, 2.5", 3". and 4". Out in the field, yes, I'll carry a 686+. In town, concealed, presuming I'm not pocket carrying a J frame or belt carrying a 9mm (both of which I do often), the K frame is my choice. Not the 4", however, I like to conceal snubs and compact pistols.
But I admit that by my bed, well, this 3" 686+ is there.

My EDC is a 442 no lock. So a vote for a J frame.
But if it came down to having only one, my 686 no dash no M stamp 4" would be my pick.
The finest revolver for the dollar ever made IMHO.

Kinda tough decision but guess hafta go with L but without so much barrel lug. It has or could be safely chambered in everything from .17 thru .44 plus has same grip as K, X, Z.

"Favorite" is an interesting word to ponder when it comes to so many things.... like children, vehicles, friends, relatives, and guns. Fortunately I don't think I will ever be challenged to pick just one in any category. With guns, a lot of the issue revolves around "use". I gravitate to three frames, J, K, and N. By collecting interest and ownership volume, my favorite is the J-frame. I am always looking for another to go with the others. For a day at the range, my K-frames will be with me, as I really like the fit they afford me as well as the accuracy. For pure enjoyment, I will pull out a couple 1917's in .45 acp. So, I guess it depends upon the day what my favorite will be. (There are also days that a good USGI 1911 / 1911A1 will trump them all.)
But, in the end, who could turn either of these away from the front door on a rainy night?

I agree- favorite depends on use. While I love my N frames, they are not as comfortable to conceal carry as my K or J frames.
So depending on intended use will determine which frame is my favorite……

I thought I’d already commented in this thread but I guess not. I took a different tack in my consideration of this mental challenge. If “the Powers that Be” announced they would make S&W revolvers to their old high standards of fit, function and finish, but that they would only make one frame size, my vote without question would be for the K frame. This is the best size for many purposes and still useful for most (except the very largest calibers, of course.) When you consider the K22 and the Model 19 with various grip iterations and barrel configurations, and everything in between these two, the choice of frames is obvious.
Yes, I still love my Baby Chiefs Special and my 8 3/8” Model 29, but you did limit me to one frame size, didn’t you?
