Barrel length; S&W 640 no dash
What is the barrel length on a S&W 640 no dash .38 Special? I’m not finding anything definitive online. Is it 1 7/8” or 2 1/8”? I’ve ordered one online and have not received it yet so I can’t measure it. Thanks in advance!

They went to 2.125" when they made the gun a 357 Mag. That was dash 1, which I have. I think I would prefer the no dash, as I don't shoot Mag rounds from my snubs.
I think it was to get good extraction for the longer case length. Doubt it would make much difference with respect to ballistic performance. About 12% longer.

Agree, 1 7/8" - except for the 3".
