Default 629 classic .44 Mag Date Manufactured?

It has a Serial # DNV1xxx
I'm a new member here.
I recently both my first Smith & Wesson Firearm and had a massive failure after 31 rounds.
The firearm jammed with live rounds still in the cylinder and had to take it to a gunsmith to have them removed.
Just curious to see if I was sold a old or used firearm from the retailer.
Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum. Was it sold to you as a new gun? If so, calling the S&W 1-800 number is a good way to get the date of a recently manufactured revolver.

As far as the jamming, it could one of the several problems that arise in manufacture, or problems with the ammunition. A little more information would be helpful.

When you say it jammed, what does that mean exactly? You couldn't open the cylinder, or the action seized up, or something else?

Best of luck, I'm sure it will be sorted out.

The action froze, hammer stuck in semi cocked position.
Cylinder would not open, release would not work.
Ammunition made by PPU SJPF 240gr 15,6 g
Bought new.
Called Smith & Wesson, was told by warranty agent nothing they could do because I was located in Canada.
Was told to call their rep. in Canada.
No success so far.
