Default M327 TRR8 - waiting

Got a really bad urge for the Model 327 Trr8 revolver to add to my collection. Of course as with many guns, when you want one they disappear into the woodwork. Any 'insiders' to the S&W manufacturing want to tell me to calm down and that they're coming, just right around the corner?

I have so many notification requests out there I can't count them all lol.

I think you need to look on the second hand market.

There are a couple available at not too stunning prices.

I also was looking for a TRR8 I put out several notify me when in stock request. I got lucky and was notified within a week it from sportsmans outdoor superstore I bought it shortly after the notification. apparently they only got one in. I checked back at the same dealer later that day and it showed out of stock again. A friend was in Cabelas in league city, Texas earlier this week and they had one in the display case $1349.00 if I recall correctly put out the notification request you may get lucky

Thanks for the hints and leads guys. I just called the League City Cabellas and they currently do not have one in either new or used form. Must have been sold off.

You can always go to LGS that is a Smith dealer and he can order one. May take awhile but you will get a good price

Ive seen prices all over the board lately, and am a little gun-shy on pre-ordering price unknown (pardon the pun). But thanks for the suggestion just as well.

If anyone sees one out and about, please let me know. I don't offer any finder fees lol, but you'll make a fellow S&W collector very happy :-)

The 327 TRR8 and 327 R8 are great Revolvers. I would patiently wait for one , because they are worth it. I have an R8 and I would replace it in a second if anything happened to it.

Oh yeah it's here! I checked out all the mounting screws for the rails and one of the smaller screws on the low side rail was a little buggered up and wouldn't thread in all the way. Also one of the sideplate screws was a little tweaked from manufacture. I called S&W customer service and they're sending me replacements. Yeah I could just live with it but hey its new and it should arrive that way. They are sending me some new screws promptly. Looking forward to some good shooting soon.

Congratulations

That is one fine addition to the Family

I find my 327 TRR8 to be one of the most accurate 357 Magnum revolvers I have ever owned.

I put a holo optic on mine and use EZ moons. One of my favorite and most accurate .357 magnums with superb accuracy.8 rounds,on target..with authority. Mine wears rubber Pachmyers. Ugly but dances well. It’s a keeper.

Colt_saa where did you get the wood grips from? And is it just the light angle in the pic or did you do a little polishing and/or replacing on the cylinder latch and hammer? Looks great!

No polishing,
That is all as it left the Factory except for the grips. Those grips are late 90s production Factory Combats

Sports South had Smith & Wesson do up a couple hundred two-tone Model 327 TRR8s back in 2007

They are product code 170298

This one stays with me, the serial number is my birthday

Congrats on landing one! I've kept and eye out for a sharp TRR8 or R8 ever since I saw Maggie carrying a R8 in Season 5 of The Walking Dead. Always wondered where SHE found that one, LOL.

I was and still am on a boatload of 'notify me' lists out there, and have not yet received any notice (they just haven't gotten any in). I saw a pair of them show up on GB - and before everybody beats me up for doing GB, I saw the seller was a very large established firm, and the price was right considering there was a lot of 'No this cost " and "no thats costs" that are usually tagged to a sale. l figured at the least I maybe paid a very small premium for the ability to have this piece now as opposed to who knows when later.

@colt_saa, is your rear sight original? Mine is a v-notch that I hate; love to change it.

That is the way mine came

While I have not done one in years, the Factory sells a DIY kit to change the blade

The kit includes the rear blade of your choice, a new screw, and a new nut.

It only cost $11 a few years back. Many of the on-line distributors stock them as well. A buddy bought his from MidwayUSA.Com

The only trick you need to know is have the rear sight inside a food storage bag when you pull the sight blade out. There is a detent and spring in there that you will never find if they go flying

BTW, Amazon is way over priced on these, but they have them as well

I really like the stocks on that. I am a wood stock guy at heart. I'm gonna keep my eyes out, I like the open backstrap with the wood coverage on bottom. At first I didn't like the lanyard slot, but I now think its more of a conversation starter, unique feature.

I’ve been looking for one of these or a 627 8 shot for the last two years but the few I’ve come across either have a canted barrel and/or a cylinder gap like the Grand Canyon.

I presume when you speak of a canted barrell, you are referencing a 627 Stainless model, because I can't see how one can cant a shrouded barrell (TRR8)?

Update to my TRR8 'notify me when in stock' requests - I got a couple emails today saying they were in stock, but when I went to the websites (admittedly a couple hours tardy), both sites said "OUT OF STOCK". So I don't know if they got a few in stock and sold out quick, or the sites are full of BS.

Anyway, here's a couple quick pics of mine. I am glad I jumped on it when I had the opportunity.

If anyone's looking to "grab a gun" of this model, I just got a notice and it looks legitimately in stock...for now.

Fellow poster "Lou the welder" has encouraged me to buy one but I've always been leery of the bbl lug at the muzzle. Have heard tales of this lug loosening. There is a tool for tightening this lug, but others have said this should only be done by the factory. Always this doubt in the back of my mind and I've become fond of the steel frame 627 models. There is another poster who owns many 8-shot .357 N-frames and says they are a wonderful idea. He is correct.

I’ve had mine apart and tightened the barrel nut myself, very similar to Dan Wessons. Never had it come loose.

EWK Arms makes this tool, I've been looking for one for years. Unfortunately they only ship within the US.
