Default Purchased a new 66-8 with 2.75 inch barrel

I’ve been looking for the S&W Model 66 w/2.75” barrel for quite a while and had pretty much given up ever seeing one in the wild. I went to my local gun shop today just to kill some time and lo and behold there was one just sitting there as pretty as could be. I paid for it but can’t pick it up until I get my new driver’s license as I just moved from another state.

After I pick it up next month I will provide a quick review and photos of course.

Cheers.

One of those will probably end up with me before long.

IMHO, the M66 is the perfect size for the 357 Magnum cartridge.

I bought a 66-8 2.75" for my wife. Bought it because she wanted a revolver instead of a plastic semi-auto. It's a great shooter. I think you're gonna like it. She does. One thing I really like is that when I checked all the chambers with pin gauges, all six measure a perfect .357. No slop in this revolver.

My brother gifted me a 4” 66-8 for my 30th birthday. Yeh I know nobody likes the locks. But it’s still a wonderful shooter.

I agree, but I'd want a shorter bbl. Hard to carry these telegraph poles!

You're gonna love that 66. I'm laid up in bed with the flu right now and my 66-1 snub is right here at my side, helping me pass the time as I fondle her. Such a wonderful gun to hold.

Default M66-8 snubbie

Congrats, they're an awesome little revolver.

Mine was an early one & it seems a group of them had the forcing cone cut too shallow.

I re-cut my FC, chamfered the muzzle & tuned the trigger and it's a great shooter.

I bought a 66-8 a few months back. I was a little concerned with all the talk about S&W's QC control as of late but the pistol is great. I'm no expert but lockup & timing seem very good and the trigger is very smooth with almost 0 take up. It shot POA right out of the box with everything from .38 spcl. 148 gr. wad cutters to full house .357 mag 158 gr. hp's at 50' and down. The only negative for me is its heavy. Other than that it has been worth the money.
