Default 686+ red dot installation

Howdy, and thanks for the add to this forum!

I just bought a 686+, Talo Edition, 7" barrel. I am a big fan of red dot sights, and I have them installed on all of my auto pistols. Naturally, I wanted to a red dot upgrade on my new wheelgun. I went with the Hex Dragonfly sight from Springfield and a mounting plate from EGW. I'm sure everything will work just fine, but the installation is not very attractive because the front part of the sight channel and the original sight mounting hole are not covered. It looks pretty crude.

Does anyone know of anyone who makes a blanking plate to fix this? I'd hate to have to cut off the original sight to make one myself. I can't find a replacement or a used/pulled sight anywhere (all the pulled sights have the square end, my sight channel is rounded).

Thanks in advance, PAOG

Check out Weig-A-Tinny. They just might have something to your liking.

Thanks, I looked at them. Nice mount, but it's only for mini red dots. It would fit the Hex Wasp, but not the Dragonfly model that I have.

7" plus. That is a good model!
It handles 357 like my V-comp. Very nice!

I used a weigand tinny mini-rail. Maybe another option for you.

Nice grips! I put a Hogue Conversion Monogrip on mine. I have some arthritis in my hands, and I need the padding!

I don't think Raptor ever started making mounts again after the fires.

Looks like you are right. Real shame, he was a talented machinist and a good guy. I hope they come thru it in good shape.

I have an August 2021 American Rifleman magazine and there is an article "Opitics-Ready Market" and it shows the Hex Dragonfly has the "Doctor" footprint. That is the same footprint as my Burris FF3's and the most popular footprint. I use both the Allchin and Raptor bases on my FF3's, but the best one "Raptor" is not available right now. The Allchin mount has many holes drilled and tapped for a few footprints.

I just looked at the Hex websight and it says it has the same footprint as Burris FF's.
