How far should the center pin poke out?....
I'm working on my J&G special and the cylinder gets hung up on the ejector rod detent pin.... the center pin wasn't quite poking out far enough when I tried to open the cylinder... so I looked at it and it looks ground down....
First photo is taken while pushing the cylinder release....

Looks like Bubba has had his hands on this. Fitting a new center pin is the best fix.

To answer your question, the ctr pin should be flush with the end of the extractor rod when pushed forward flush with the cyl extractor star.
Looks like the gun had a barrel change before it became a J&G Special or because of it. Looks like yours was shortened from a longer incorrect length pin.
Actually what's going on is the extractor rod is hanging up on the front locking bolt BECAUSE the cyl ctr pin is obviously too short or the rod is to long. The adjustment is made by filing the front end of the ext rod.
To confirm if the rod or the ctr pin is the problem; install the cyl on the yoke and close it gently. Then push the cyl release. It the cyl opens easy, it's not the ctr pin, the rod is too long.
What's the barrel length? I may have the ctr pin you need if that's the problem and you can have it if I do.

Yes, it's one of the ones that had a 2" bbl that had to be removed to be re-imported. And after looking at it, I'm sure there was some Jordanian Bubba at work..

You might be able to see the shortness of the center pin in the photo of the front; the center pin is recessed quite a bit.

I sourced a New Old Stock 2" barrel for it.

Yes I could see the ctr pin is shorter than the rod but that can also mean the rod is too long.
What length barrel came on the gun when you got it? Obviously longer than 2" for re-importing, therefore your new 2" barrel is going to need the short rod and ctr pin that only fits the 2" barrel.

Sorry so late on the reply, I was out of town.... The original barrel length was 2" I'm lead to believe, and removed for re-importation due to the law... It came with the 2" ejector rod that you can see in the photos...
Cheers,
DB

By the way you could use a center pin from a longer rod inside a 2" model rod. Just need to grind it down to correct length.

That was definitely plan B... plan C was to build it up and re-shape it....
